Day 4/26: Thursday, January 30, 2020: At Sea

Went to the gym and did my morning two mile tread mill. After breakfast, at 10:00 am, I attended a presentation by one of the Expedition Team on Humpback Whales. Maria emerged around 11:00 am and ordered in breakfast. After reviewing the optional excursions at Puerto Madryn, she decided she would like to do the snorkeling with the sea lions. I went down and was able to book the excursion leaving at 11:30 am. The guy said the water temperature would be about 65F, so I reserved "dry" suits for both of us.

At 3:45 pm, I attended a lecture on penguins.

At 4:45 pm, Maria and I went to a team trivia match. We were a team of two and there were 11 teams in total. We did not do very well, but we did not come in last.

Sumit brought us our caviar and canopies, for our dinner.

At 6:45 pm, we attended a tango show. It was good, but not the Rojo.

We spent the remainder of the evening planning our next trip to the Dominican Republic to visit Maria's mother and grandmother in June. Then we did laundry until midnight.

Day 3/25, Wednesday, January 29, 2020: At Sea

At sea today and tomorrow before stopping at Puerto Madryn. This morning, they held an introductory presentation for the Antarctic Expedition portion of the cruise. There are nine expedition members on board. Their job is to safely get us from the ship to the Antarctic shore and guide us while there. The group consists of an assortment of people with scientific backgrounds including geology, history, animal science, photography and climatology. I already have attended a couple of their lectures and they are fascinating to listen to.

At 2:00 pm this afternoon, Maria is interested in attending the Arts & Crafts class doing watercolors. At 3:00 pm, Expedition member Danny Edwards (historian) will give a presentation on "Battle of the Atlantic".

This evening we have an 8:00 pm reservation at La Dame, the French restaurant.

Day 2/24: Tuesday, January 28, 2020: Montevideo, Uruguay

It was a relatively smooth sail from Buenos Aires over to Montevideo last night. Nonetheless, Maria awoke this morning feeling a bit queasy. I asked the Butler for some Dramamine, which he said he would provide before we left port this evening.

Part of the Uruguayan navy was in port, although it also might be their ghost fleet.

Day 19/41: Friday, February 14, 2020: At Sea, Last Day of Segment 2

Our final day at sea on Segment 2. It is therefore going to be leisurely day. I attended a couple of final lectures by the members of the E...
